Walking around Monk Haven… there’s plenty to explore!
Monk Haven Manor B&B is set amongst a wooded valley that leads down to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park coast path. This makes it a perfect place for avid walkers to enjoy. Short evening strolls on arrival are very popular as the beach at Monk Haven is a mere 5 minute walk away. This is a very easy walk and even suitable for wheel chairs when it has not been raining. Our woods can be simply magical when the bluebells and wild garlic are in bloom in May and in Autumn the colours are just stunning.
Our guests are welcome to explore the woods of Monk Haven Manor which have a hidden ruin of a folly, dating to the late 1700's with it's sister folly on the coastal footpath overlooking the haven. A great piece of history just on our doorstep.
St Ishmael's church is just next door as Monk Haven Manor was originally the vicarage. This church dates back to the age of the saints and is steeped in historical mystery, as is the whole of Monk Haven.
From Monk Haven Manor you can easily stroll a circular route to The Gann, up Mill Lane (or Mussilwick Road) and back to Monk Haven passing Trewarren Farm. These are relatively easy walks with just a few long hills with small inclines. The Gann is a beautiful wetlands conservation area with many birds and wildlife. It is via The Gann that you can walk from Monk Haven Manor to the village of Dale. You can cross the estuary over the stepping bridge 3 hours either side of high tide. So it is wise that you check the tide tables. If the tide isn't ideal then you can take the alternative, longer route that will add 1.5 hours to your walk. This is beautiful all the same and some walkers even decide to take this route irrelevant of the tide.

The secret beach of Lindsway is about 20/25 minutes walk from Monk Haven Manor B&B along the coast path towards Milford Haven. You can do a loop walk through the village of St Ishmaels and enjoy a drink at The Brook Inn before heading back to Monk Haven. Alternatively you can carry on walking to Sandy Haven before coming back via St Ishmaels village.
There are many walking routes across fields, beaches and through the village without needing to venture very far at all and without the need of a vehicle.
We have put together a few links to these and other walks below. Have a look and print off some PDFs that interest you for when you come to stay with us at Monk Haven Manor.
